HD Hyundai Cosmo is a petrochemical corporation founded in November
2009 as a joint investment between Hyundai Oilbank and Japanese
oil refining company, Cosmo Oil.

  • HD Hyundai Cosmo

It officially launched its business in February 2010 when it took over and transferred the BTX business of Hyundai Oilbank (production facilities and sales network included).
Hyundai Cosmo constructed #2BTX in 2013 and PXP/CRU in 2020 in order to respond to a rapidly growing petrochemical demand among Asian countries, including China and India, and to increase profitability, featuring the BTX production line with a total of 1,830,000 tons of annual capacity.

  • #2BTX Plant

Built within the Daesan Plant of Hyundai Oilbank, it inputs MX (Mixed Xylene) as a material considering the investment efficiency and economic feasibility unlike #1BTX that uses Naphtha produced in the Crude Distillation Unit as a material. Cosmo Oil, one of the parent companies, steadily provides 50% of the raw material, Mixed Xylene, of #2BTX, and Hyundai Chemical, a subsidiary of Hyundai Oilbank, provides the other 50%.
*BTX is made of the first letters of Benzene, Toluene, Para-xylene and used as a base material mainly for petrochemicals, such as plastics, synthetic resin and polyester fibers.
